Little River Catchment

Restoration Economics: Unlocking Small-Scale Environmental Planting Potential in NSW

Overview

The Little River catchment covers 241,211 ha encompassing the towns of Yeoval and Cumnock

Public Land

The public land estate (National Parks and State Forest) represent 22,000 ha or 9% of the catchment area on the western boundary

Carbon Yields

Environmental Plantings, (Block Configuration) yields vary across the Catchment from 3.5 – 23.2 ACCUs / ha / yr averaged over a 25- year crediting period.

Carbon Target Areas

Areas which exceed 10 ACCUs / Ha / yr are proposed to be the target carbon areas for the project.
10 ACCUs / Ha / yr equates to a gross margin of approximately $600 / ha which is the point of which carbon yields typically overtake grazing yields.
This assumption will be tested as part of the project.

Target Properties

263 properties containing carbon yielding areas greater than 10 ACCUs / ha / yr exist in the catchment.
These represent the target properties for the project.
