Low Carbon Landscapes Project

This project will guide 15 local land managers through a step-by-step process to:

Understand carbon sequestration at paddock scale
Explore biodiversity & carbon credit opportunities
Understand market demand and income potential

In partnership with Rabobank & MLA, the project will showcase real opportunities for producers.

You’re invited to our Ecological site assessment & paddock walk on Tuesday 28 April, starting 9am sharp. The site is being prepped for a small scale environmental planting project. This is a great opportunity to to see firsthand what steps are required when registering a carbon project.

Salinity Site Assessments

A partnership project with Mid Macquarie Landcare, Little River Landcare, Three Rivers Landcare, Watershed Landcare and Central Tablelands Landcare scope out the extent and severity of salinity across the central west and tablelands.

After 3 consecutive wet years, the Salinity issue has once again raised it’s ugly head.

Did you know that the Little River Landcare catchment is the second saltiest in NSW? Salinity sites are popping up across this area and established sites are expanding rapidly. However, there are management decisions that can restabilise these areas and in some cases capitalise grazing production when strategically managed.

If you have a bare patch/ wet area of concern on your property, we can visit your farm, assess the site, and make management recommendations.

Recommendations consider the past & current management of the site, in conjunction with its geological landscape and physical soil/water tests taken on site.

Little River Landcare’s Board members; Chair: Don Bruce, Vice Chair: Allan Nicholson & Treasurer: Ian Knox, and committee members Belinda Reynolds, Michael Hicks, Mel Kiel and John Pickford, invite you to attend the AGM on Thursday 5th September at the Cumnock Bowling Club.
This group is committed to supporting local landholders and the community by targeting projects that recognise, promote & deliver best practice outcomes for integrated agricultural and environmental projects.
Little River Landcare will highlight its major achievements over the last 12 months and what is being planned for the future. Your ideas and contribution to the future of Landcare is encouraged and welcomed.
